According to USA Today, a long time sponsor of ESPN College Football, Cars.com, made the decision to pull their sponsorship from the Penn State v. Nebraska game this past Saturday due to the child molestation scandal surrounding Penn State.

The sponsors’ spokesman, Ron Hall, also stated that they will not be a sponsor in the following game this weekend against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

“Due to the recent allegations surrounding the Penn State Football program, Cars.com has decided to withdraw from this weekend’s sponsorship of the Nebraska at Penn State game on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 12 p.m.,” said Hall.

“As a proud, longtime supporter of ESPN College Football, it’s important to us that we’re building our brand and raising the visibility of our advertisers in a way that celebrates the sport, the dedication of its student athletes and the many reputable universities that field teams. We will still be sponsoring a game this weekend,”

Sherwin Williams, another sponsor of Penn State has also pulled their logo from the background in the media room inside Beaver Stadium. Time will tell whether other major sponsors such as the American Red Cross, John Deere, Chevrolet, and Pepsi, the official beverage company on campus, will jump ship.

In order to help the situation and steer public opinion in a more positive direction, Penn State alumni have already begun fundraising for victims of sexual abuse victims.
